Melodic, brutal, atmospheric, and technical, everything black metal should be. SARASTUS’ brand of black metal is sparse and punk-infused in its structure but enriched with bright, soaring melodies. Their aptly titled second release (and first full-length album) showcases Finland’s unique black metal style.

The music is highly melodic, driven by hypnotic tremolo riffing, a relentless barrage of blasting drums, and surprisingly audible, inventive bass lines that add depth to the sound. It’s reminiscent of Finnish greats yet maintains its own identity without outright imitation.

Fans of Finnish black metal, especially those who appreciate the sounds of Sargeist and Horna, owe it to themselves to check this album out.
